Golfing Weekends
An opportunity for a group of 8 friends to get away together and enjoy the three fabulous golf courses of the Llŷn Peninsula in North West Wales while staying in private, luxurious, modern accommodation and enjoying great meals in interesting places. You would have the entire facilities of Manaros to yourselves. |
Friday
We will be there to meet you as you arrive in Aberdaron, a beautiful fishing village at the tip of the Llŷn Peninsula. We will show you the house and introduce you to its facilities. On your way you might like to visit Snowdonia or play one of the many golf courses that you will pass. Perhaps Porthmadog or Caernarfon. Park at Manaros and settle into your rooms any time after 3.30pm where you either cook for yourselves in the fully equipped kitchen or go out to eat in the two hotels in the village or in Penbryn Bach, a seafood restaurant out on the headland.
Saturday
Drive 12 miles to Nefyn and breakfast in the golf club. This is a spectacular 26 hole course built on a rocky promontory jutting out into the sea, and is widely regarded as the most beautiful in Wales. This offers 2 cliff-top 18 hole courses. After completing the front 10 you can opt for the old or the new course of entirely different back eights. You can “see the sea from every tee”. And this will be a very full day’s golf which can be ably supported by the services of an excellent club house, see www.nefyn-golf-club.co.uk and the temptations of the Tŷ Coch Inn built right upon the sand see www.tycoch.co.uk. If your clothing is wet then we have a drying room and a special boot dryer.
Sunday
Drive 10 miles to Abersoch along the coastal lanes of Mynydd Rhiw and Hell’s Mouth and breakfast in the golf club. Abersoch is a 60 acre golf course adjoining the beach and is a combination of the best of park land and links golf. The first 9 holes are characterised by mature trees, water hazards and undulating fairways with the back 9 being elevated with breathtaking views of Cardigan Bay and the Snowdonia Mountains. See www.abersochgolf.co.uk. Abersoch town is also an interesting place with good specialist shops. In the evening we offer you the option of a special celebration meal in Manaros where a cook will prepare a 3 course meal entirely with local ingredients and to traditional Welsh recipes at an additional cost of £20 per person.
Monday
After checking out of Manaros you can head back east and perhaps tackle the Links and parkland course at Pwllheli with its tree-lined fairways and coastal setting, see www.pwllheligolfclub.co.uk.
This is only a suggestion of the golf courses that can be played and it can easily be adapted to suit your own requirements. It could be expanded into a 4 day holiday if you come Tuesday to Friday. Or if some in the party would prefer to do something other than golf then have a look at the other packages for walking and cycling opportunities and the possibility of crossing to explore Bardsey Island on a day trip, see www.bardsey.org and www.bardseyboattrips.com. We will do our best to let you mix and match the packages. Prices for this package are listed here.
In respect of paying for the golf (which is
modestly priced on the Llŷn Peninsula-especially out of peak season)
we feel that it is best to negotiate directly with the golf clubs
where tee times can also be secured, but everybody playing 3 courses
and quoting CGCI will enjoy a 10% discount see
www.welsh-golf.com.
